Over the last month or so I've been building an application to help manage my inbox. That application is now live, and available for others to use! It's still in early stages, and there may be bugs living inside.

Decluttering Your Inbox

I wrote a little bit about why and how I'm building the application in a previous post. Basically, it provides an email address that you can use to sign up for newsletters, promotions, and other non-urgent emails. Then instead of those emails going directly to your inbox, they get collected in your Hold My Mail account and delivered to your inbox in a daily or weekly digest.

Saving Your Links

Hold My Mail can also hold your links! There's a companion Google Chrome extension that you can connect to your account. Then anytime you're on a webpage that you want to save for later, you can do so with the extension! Links will be saved to your account where you can access them later.

What's Next?

There are definitely a few things that I know need to be cleaned up. A few examples:

  • When you open an email from a source page, it does a full-page navigation. I want to update this so it opens in a sidebar — similar to when you open an email from a digest.
  • I definitely want to update the user account page as well.
  • There currently isn't a way to view all links or emails with a specific tag. I want to make this possible.

I'm sure more things will come up as I continue to use the app.
